Health Ministry data shows that in 2011, the number of elephantiasis patients reached 12 066 people in 344 districts / us throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, there are 40 million Indonesian people whose bodies contain microfilaria. That is, they are potentially infectious to others elephantiasis. Symptoms.

Second, the patient may experience an acute infection caused by inflammation of lymph channels that feels hot and sore. Swollen lymph nodes may rupture and bleed.

Third, lymph blockage which can cause swelling in the feet also hands. In women. Swelling can occur in the breast, while in men in the testes. Swollen area will look red, hot, and painful. If conditions had been like this, usually people with elephantiasis have a fever for three to five days.
Of the three processes, the first condition is the most dangerous because it has no symptoms, so that the people affected do not seek treatment, and it was a process of transmission to others who are healthy can happen.

Prevention and Treatment.

In general, the elephant leg disease prevention can be done by trying to avoid transmitting mosquito bites. Pay attention to your surroundings. Clean up puddles of water that can be breeding places of mosquitoes, such as a bathtub.

Can also use mosquito nets when sleeping or installing mosquito repellent in your home.

If you have been stricken with elephantiasis disease, it can be treated with anthelmintic, such as DEC, albendazole or ivermectin.
